Ordering

An order is not accepted until you see the confirmation screen with an order number on it. Until then nothing has been sent to the kitchen. We may refuse an order, for example if we have run out of something or an address is outside the area we deliver to, and if that happens you will not be charged.

We cook to order and start as soon as an order arrives, so orders cannot be cancelled from the app. If you need to change or cancel one, ring us on 01924 565438 straight away and we will sort it out.

Prices and payment

Prices are shown on the menu. What you pay is the total shown at checkout, including any delivery fee, and nothing is added afterwards.

Card payments are taken by Stripe when you order. Cash is available at collection or delivery; please have the right amount ready where possible.

Collection and delivery

We deliver within about 5 miles of the shop. If your postcode is outside that, checkout will say so before you finish ordering, and you can still collect.

Delivery orders start at £15.00, and delivery is free over £30.00. Times shown are estimates: we cook fresh, and a busy Friday teatime takes longer than a quiet Tuesday. We will keep you posted rather than leave you guessing.

Please make sure somebody can take the order at the address given. If the driver cannot reach you, they will try to ring the number on the order.

Allergies

Every item lists the allergens it is made with, and that information is given in good faith. It cannot tell you about traces: this is one small kitchen where the same fryers, surfaces and utensils are used all day, so we cannot promise any dish is free of anything.

If you have a serious allergy, please ring us on 01924 565438 before ordering rather than relying on the app. We would far rather talk it through with you.

If something is wrong

Ring us on 01924 565438 and we will put it right. If the order is wrong, something is missing, or it is not what you expected, we would rather hear about it that evening than not at all.

Because food is cooked to order, the usual 14 day right to change your mind for online purchases does not apply. That does not affect your legal rights if what arrives is not what you ordered, or is not of satisfactory quality.

These terms

We may update these terms, and the version on this page at the time you order is the one that applies. Dewsbury Fisheries is based in England, and these terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

Privacy Policy

Who we are

Dewsbury Fisheries, 74-78 Dewsbury Gate Rd, Staincliffe, Dewsbury WF13 4AX. You can reach us on 01924 565438 or at dewsburyfisheries@gmail.com.

What we collect

Your name, email, phone number and, for delivery orders, your address. We keep a record of your orders and your loyalty points balance.

We never see your card. It is typed straight into Stripe's own payment form, and all we are told is whether the payment worked. We do not store card numbers or security codes, and we never could.

If you tick the box at checkout to save a card, we keep the sort of card it is, the last four digits and the expiry date, so you can recognise it, along with a code from Stripe that lets us charge that card again for this shop and nowhere else. The box is never ticked for you. You can remove a saved card at any time under Payment methods in your account, which removes it from Stripe as well, and deleting your account removes them all.

Cookies

Necessary cookies remember your basket and keep your account working. Optional ordering analytics is off unless you choose to allow it. We do not use advertising cookies, share observations with ad networks or build advertising profiles.

One remembers what is in your basket, and any offer code or gift card you have applied to it, so it survives closing the tab. One keeps you signed in. One comes from Cloudflare, and only when you order as a guest, as part of the check described below.

A separate first-party cookie remembers your analytics choice for 35 days. If you allow analytics, it contains a random, revocable permission token, not your account details. You can decline without affecting your order, account or notifications. Clearing cookies removes your saved choice as well as your basket and sign-in.

Change your privacy choices

Optional ordering analytics

With your consent, we collect short-lived random visits, broad page groups, a coarse device category and entry source, basket additions and checkout starts. The server can connect a visit to an accepted cash order or a verified successful card payment using a temporary order link. These observations are for improving the ordering experience, not advertising. Cash acceptance does not mean cash has been received.

Analytics records do not contain names, email addresses, phone numbers, delivery addresses, order contents, payment details, raw page or referral addresses, search queries or stored IP addresses. Device and referral labels are broad hints, not verified identities. Logged-in staff visits and browsers sending a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal are excluded.

Visits last up to 30 minutes. Consent records, observations and temporary order links are stored in our Supabase database, with reports restricted to existing shop admins. Records expire after 35 days and an hourly cleanup deletes expired records. Turning analytics off revokes the permission token, deletes this browser’s retained visit records and their linked observations, and stops further collection. Deleting optional observations does not delete financial order records.

Why we collect it

To take payment, cook the right food, get it to you, and answer questions about your order. We do not currently send promotional emails or text messages.

Who we share it with

Stripe takes payments. Supabase hosts our database. Resend sends our emails. Cloudflare runs the checks described below. Each of them only gets what it needs to do its job, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

If you turn notifications on in the app, your phone is given an identifier by Google on Android or Apple on iPhone, and alerts are sent through them to reach your device. They are told the message and that identifier, not who you are or what you ordered. Switching notifications off on your phone ends it.

Checking you are a real person

Ordering as a guest, without an account, runs a background check from Cloudflare called Turnstile. It exists to stop automated abuse sending the kitchen orders nobody placed. Usually you will not notice it, though occasionally it asks you to tick a box.

To do that it looks at technical signals from your browser, such as your IP address. It is not shown your order, your account or your payment. Cloudflare’s Turnstile Privacy Addendum sets out exactly what it collects and why.

How long we keep it

You can delete your account yourself at any time, from the bottom of the Account screen. It takes effect immediately, and no request or reply is needed. There is a page explaining exactly how if you would rather read it first.

Deleting removes your saved addresses, saved cards, loyalty points, rewards and notification settings, and it happens the moment you confirm rather than going into a queue. Past orders are kept for six years, which is what UK tax rules require, but your name, email, phone number and the address it went to are stripped off them first, so what remains is the sale rather than you. Any gift cards you bought stay valid, since whoever is holding the code is usually not the person who bought it.

Why we are allowed to hold it

Your name, contact details and order history are held because we need them to carry out the order you asked for. Loyalty points are part of that same arrangement. Optional ordering analytics relies on your consent. We do not currently send promotional emails or text messages.

Keeping records of what was sold, and for how much, is a legal obligation rather than a choice.

Where your data goes

Our suppliers are Stripe, Supabase, Resend and Cloudflare. Some of them store or process data outside the UK, and where they do, they are covered by the safeguards UK data protection law requires for international transfers.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, object to us using it, or ask for it in a portable form. Email dewsburyfisheries@gmail.com and we will respond within one month. You can delete your account yourself at any time from the account screen.

Where we rely on your consent, including optional analytics, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of what we did before withdrawal. Use Privacy choices to turn analytics off.

If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
